SELETE Acquires Site License
for TWO COOL®

June 23, 1997 (Dublin, CA) - Wright Williams & Kelly (WWK) announced today that Semiconductor Leading Edge Technologies, Incorporated (SELETE), the Japanese IC industry's 300mm wafer research organization, has acquired a site license for WWK's TWO COOL® wafer fab cost of ownership software. The software will be installed in SELETE's headquarters in Yokohama, Japan for use in evaluating the projected cost of operating 300mm processing equipment.

According to Mr. Haruo Tsuchikawa, Director General Manager of SELETE, "The transition to 300mm is the most costly transition ever for the IC industry. We needed a measurement system to help us understand process costs. TWO COOL® is the right system at the right time. We are committed to using TWO COOL® as the key metric to ensure cost effective production of semiconductor devices at 300mm. We believe that this approach will be both beneficial and a requirement for IC manufacturers and the equipment and material suppliers."

"We are very pleased that SELETE, the world's largest 300mm research consortium, has aggressively adopted TWO COOL® as their productivity measurement tool," states David Jimenez, WWK's Vice President and General Manager. "Now that both SELETE and their counterparts at the International 300mm Initiative (I300I) are using TWO COOL®, they have created a cooperative, de facto standard for 300mm cost modeling from which the entire industry can benefit."
