Technical Alert #5
for All Users of Factory CommanderTM v2.3

Summary: Factory CommanderTM versions 2.3.2 and prior cause run time errors that result in program termination when the application has been installed or moved to a folder that contains spaces in its path name.

Details: In current and prior releases of Factory CommanderTM, a runtime error occurs if the application has been installed or moved to a location having one or more spaces in its path name (e.g. C:\Program Files\FC23\ or C:\Factory Commander\). In most instances, a message is presented shortly after the program has been launched stating "Program Execution Error 10. Syntax Error". Following this message the program will terminate in the majority of situations.

This issue has been resolved in the v2.3.3 update to Factory CommanderTM. This update will ship to warranty and maintenance contract customers shortly.

Workaround: Ensure that the program resides in a folder that does not contain space characters in its path name. If spaces do exist, either move the main program folder to a new location or rename the folder so as to remove any space characters. Examples of valid path names are C:\FC23\ or C:\Programs\Factory_Commmander\). Note that folder names longer than 8 characters are permitted and do not adversely affect the program's operation.
